2nd Wind Exercise Engages Agosto to Guide Its Technology Strategy, Implement  New Systems and Manage Its Entire IT Operations

Agosto Saves 2nd Wind 50 Percent Annually in IT Expenditures with Cloud Technologies, including Google Apps, NetSuite and ADP’s benefits enrollment.

Minneapolis, Minn., October, 1, 2010—Agosto, Inc. (http://www.agosto.com), one of the nation’s oldest and fastest-growing Google Apps and cloud services consulting firms, announced today that 2nd Wind Exercise Equipment, a Midwest exercise-equipment retailer with over 100 stores, has selected Agosto to be their technology advisor and Google Apps provider.

After growing from 20 stores to over 100 stores in under three years, 2nd Wind President Tony Enrico discovered that the company’s IT systems were not up to par. Users did not have individual email accounts, key data was not readily accessible outside the corporate offices, management had little control and visibility of store communications, and collaboration between stores only existed via phone or fax.

In looking at his options, Enrico said, “Price was a factor, but the most important thing was that our system needed to provide valuable real-time access to retail data and handle backup and security intrinsically.” Instead of spending nearly $60,000 to upgrade the company’s email software and servers, Enrico solicited Agosto’s advice and engaged Agosto to manage 2nd Wind’s entire IT operations, saving the company at least 50 percent annually in its overall IT budget.

Agosto recommended that 2nd Wind migrate to Google Apps Premier Edition, including Gmail, and to a new web-based NetSuite enterprise resource planning (ERP) software. The Google Apps work with employees’ existing email addresses and have already resulted in a 75 percent cost reduction—an annual savings of $15,000. Spam filtering and email security with Google’s Postini software costs about $86 per employee per year and allows the company to manage email without investing in new in-house servers.

The NetSuite ERP replacement software reduced license fees from about $50,000 a year to about $23,000 a year. On Agosto’s advice, 2nd Wind also replaced the payroll system with a web-based payroll system from ADP. Instead of filing expenses manually, 2nd Wind now uses ADP’s hosted application and HR software for online benefits enrollment, which will save the company more than $300,000 in overhead and staff costs.

“Agosto is our go-to IT partner,” Enrico said of 2nd Wind’s relationship with Agosto. “They’re smart and they help us work smart when it comes to hardware, software, and our network.” For an annual budgeted fee, Agosto sets up and supports 2nd Wind’s web-based software so 2nd Wind doesn’t have to pony up for one-off projects that could break its budget.

“By leveraging Google Apps and the Cloud on several fronts, we were able to make several cost-cutting suggestions for 2nd Wind,” said Aric Bandy, Agosto president. “Google Apps is a great solution for businesses that want to communicate and collaborate more effectively while achieving considerable savings.”
