Agosto’s Cloud Expertise and Sponsorship Power Goldy’s Race Day Videos
Saturday, April 14, 2012 at 12:57PM MINNEAPOLIS—April 14, 2012—Agosto, Inc. (www.agosto.com) today announced its sponsorship of the race day videos for Goldy’s Run 10 Mile, engineered by QudUp/Raceday. Irfan Khan, Agosto’s CTO and co-founder, also co-founded QudUp. Agosto provided cloud consulting services as well as support for the videos for the popular race in which participants run, walk or roll their way across the University of Minnesota Campus, with a big finish in the TCF Stadium.
As one of the world’s oldest and fastest-growing Google Apps and cloud consulting firms, Agosto provided consultative expertise and event sponsorship to help spread word about the cloud and its benefits. QudUp is a small technology business. Its leaders, who have a passion for endurance sports, were able to deliver exceptionally speedy results with little capital investment because of the use of the cloud environment for their Raceday solution.
The Agosto and QudUp/Raceday team was tasked with providing a unique way for racers to view the most exciting moments of their day at the Goldy’s Run, as they started and finished the race. Though participant photos are the norm in the world of racing, QudUP/Raceday saw that videos were the next frontier. Their challenge was figuring out how to deliver videos to thousands of people quickly and efficiently without spending a lot of money on servers.
Using the cloud, the team created a solution based on a power cloud computing platform to quickly generate videos. Videos were stored in the cloud, ensuring that all race information remains safe without having to deploy local storage, which would have to be purchased, maintained and administered. A cloud-based content delivery network was designed to deliver videos promptly to each participant.
As a result, racers can search for their personalized videos using their name or race ID at http://www.goraceday.com/event/14/. They can also share their video results with friends. For the 1,430 finishers, this just might be the link to participating again next year or to continuing with their racing pursuits. For Agosto and QudUp/Raceday, the companies have again delivered a great example of leveraging the cloud 100%.

QudUp (www.qudup.com)
QudUp combines our passion for technology and endurance sports. Our first product MapTrack came to us on a mountain bike trip in 2008. Finding good trails by word of mouth and guide books meant flying blind. Things would be easier if we could just see a trail video, a map and interact with both. We looked around for something that did this, there wasn’t, so we built it. Today, content like the Leadville 100 footage helps racers experience the course before they ride it.
In late 2010, we built RaceDay as a way to capture the enthusiasm and hard work of our racer community. Using technology from MapTrack, we generate individualized videos by stitching together clips of a participant from around the race course. The videos are put up on our website for viewing and sharing with others. So far we've made videos for several thousand participants, from mountain biking to ski racing. Changing the way events are remembered, one video at a time.
