Agosto's Open Source IoT Message Broker Now Available on Google Cloud Launcher

MQTT protocol enables developers to build and deploy high-performance IoT applications faster

MINNEAPOLIS, MN--(Marketwired - May 17, 2017) - Agosto Inc., a cloud services and development company and tier 1 Google Cloud Premier Partner, announced that its open source IoT message broker is now available on Google Cloud Launcher. The connection proxy enables businesses to implement rapid development of IoT applications using the widely-accepted MQTT protocol. MQTT is a de facto standard in machine-to-machine (M2M)/Internet of Things (IoT) connectivity protocol, and is ISO standard certified. The announcement was made during Google I/O 2017, taking place May 17-19 in San Francisco. Agosto is hosting a Google I/O extended viewing party today, from 11:00am-1:30pm CDT, live-streaming the event at the company's headquarters in Minneapolis.

"With MQTT, we've been able to increase velocity and reduce complexity for our IoT products and services," said Agosto Chief Technology Officer Paul Lundberg. "By making our message broker available on Google Cloud Launcher, others now have the opportunity to rapidly build simple but robust IoT features." Google Cloud IoT Core, announced yesterday on Google's blog, has effectively extended Agosto's original vision for the MQTT broker into a formal Google Cloud Platform (GCP) service.

Agosto's IoT connection broker is a component of -- and gateway into -- Google's Publish/Subscribe service, as well as the company's IoT (M2M) Accelerator, and can support any back-end service that an enterprise wants to run on GCP. It supports a broad range of GCP projects and IoT prototypes. For example, with smaller projects developers can rapidly deploy a single node of Agosto's MQTT to Pub/Sub connection broker, supporting up to 120,000 messages per minute for as little as $25/month for compute costs; larger production deployments with load-balanced brokers can support millions of concurrent connections and much higher throughput.

"Our clients want the ability to build scalable, functional prototypes using proven, standard reference architectures and tools," noted Rick Erickson, Agosto co-founder and executive vice president. "This is a high-performance IoT message broker for GCP that is simple to configure and deploy, which meets the enterprise-grade requirements of our customers."

Agosto developed an early proof of its message broker for GCP in 2016, investing significantly to analyze options, build out an architecture, define message adaptation, and explore the feasibility of integrating with Google Cloud Pub/Sub. The company received the Google Cloud 2016 Americas Partner Award for Google Cloud Platform (GCP) Customer Success.

Download the broker from Google Cloud Launcher, follow the instructions and learn more about leveraging MQTT and GCP for your IoT project. Also available on GitHub.

Agosto Accelerates Rapid Growth with Continued Innovations on Google Cloud Platform

MINNEAPOLIS, MN--(Marketwired - March 01, 2017) - Agosto Inc., a cloud services and development company and tier 1 Google Cloud Premier Partner, announced today that the company has grown by over 35% year over year for the last five years. The company attributes its rapid growth in large part to growing adoption of the public cloud, in particular by large enterprises.

"Agosto clients are some of the most forward-thinking companies in the world, leading their peers in the adoption of disruptive technologies," said Irfan Khan, CEO of Agosto. "They come to us with a vision and our team brings that vision to life leveraging Google Cloud. We see this growth accelerating in 2017 and beyond."

2016 Growth Highlights
Agosto helps companies innovate on Google Cloud with IoT, Machine Learning/AI, Big Data, Infrastructure and Collaboration. One of only five Google Cloud Premier Partners in the U.S., the company specializes in cloud product development and building IoT products that help companies improve processes and increase efficiency.

Forrester Research calls cloud computing the most exciting and disruptive force in the tech market in the last decade, and predicts that the influx of enterprise dollars will push the global public cloud market to $236 billion in 2020, up from $146 billion in 2017.

Agosto achieved its 2016 revenue goals by mid-year. Agosto's G Suite services practice nearly doubled revenues in 2016 compared to the previous year, with the addition of 52 new customers. The company migrated tens of thousands of seats over the course of the year, twice as many as 2015. In addition, the company entered into partner relationships with the largest of the global service integrators.

Agosto's Google Cloud Platform (GCP) practice also more than doubled in 2016. Through key customer projects in IoT, Machine Learning and cloud infrastructure, Agosto became one of Google's biggest GCP resellers worldwide.

"Looking ahead to 2020, areas of growing traction for our services team include IoT and Machine Learning," said Khan. "As adoption of these disruptive technologies increases, businesses are turning to us to develop custom products that make them more competitive."

Investment in people and products
The company continues to invest in talent to support projected growth. Over the last 3 years, Agosto headcount increased 125%, and by 2020 the company plans to triple employee headcount. Since 2012, Agosto has brought custom products to market on Google's cloud for its Fortune 500 customers. In 2016 the company began to develop products that can be brought to a larger market, adding growth and margin to its core business.

In June of 2016 Agosto officially launched Skykit, an enterprise-grade digital signage content management system (CMS) built on GCP that integrates with Google Drive and leverages Chrome OS. Since its launch, Skykit has experienced accelerated growth as the product matures, winning 140 customers to date. Digital signage veteran Linda Hofflander joined the company as Vice President for Skykit, and is building a reseller channel which has already won over a number of partners previously selling other solutions.

Google hired Agosto to build a custom MQTT broker which allows developers to scale IoT projects from pilot to product more easily, accelerating development onto Google Cloud Platform. The product is available at GitHub.

Agosto entered into the high growth areas of Computer Vision and Machine Learning, working with Force Multiplier to incorporate computer vision on buses, keeping kids safe as they disembark from their school bus. The IoT product development team is expanding with transformation labs and consulting workshops.

Agosto is a Signature sponsor of Next '17, Google's annual customer conference focused on cloud innovation. The event takes place March 8-10 in San Francisco.

Agosto Aims to Simplify the Search for Content Management Solutions with New Comprehensive Digital Signage Guide

The comprehensive guide was developed in response to the questions Agosto encounters in the field, and is free and easy to download.

MINNEAPOLIS—Nov. 16, 2016—Agosto Inc., a tier 1 premier Google Cloud partner and developer of Skykit, a born-in-the-cloud, chrome-based, digital signage content management system (CMS), has released its new, detailed digital signage guide, making it available for free to the public. “10 Digital Signage Topics You Need to Know Before Buying - The Complete Guide” was compiled in response to the questions Agosto encounters in the field while working with companies that are evaluating digital signage CMSs for their organizations.

“There's a lot to learn about digital signage and the majority of information available addresses specific needs, rather than the big picture,” said Agosto President Aric Bandy. “Our guide fills that void by providing detailed, platform-agnostic information that will educate and provide context to buyers so they can make the most informed decisions.”

The guide can be downloaded chapter by chapter or all at once. It includes a history of the industry, including how signage products have evolved; advice about what to look for in digital signage software and hardware; how to determine your company’s return on investment (ROI); cloud-based vs. premise-based options; types of content to display; and what to expect during a digital signage implementation and rollout.

Skykit, Agosto’s digital signage CMS, allows almost any type of organization to easily scale their communications in many ways, including promotions and brand reinforcement. Early adopters of Skykit include companies in the food service, retail, education and ad networks industries. Book a demo here.

Agosto Inc. Leading the Charge to Digital Transformation with Google Cloud

The Tier 1 Google Cloud partner enables private and public sector organizations to deploy all aspects of G Suite.

MINNEAPOLIS—September 30, 2016—Agosto Inc., a tier 1 premier Google Cloud partner has helped 280+ companies “Go Google”—at state agencies, Groupon, and just about every type of business in between. So as Alphabet Inc.’s largest subsidiary embarks on a mission to rebrand its widely-adopted Google Apps for Work suite to the new name “G Suite” and Google for Work to “Google Cloud, Agosto stands poised to help even more companies leverage the public cloud.

Agosto President Aric Bandy attended Google’s Horizon conference, an invitation-only event, yesterday in San Francisco. “Listening to Diane Greene talk about the original promise of the Cloud, and how we are delivering that promise at an enterprise level, really resonated with me,” said Bandy. “The launch of Google Cloud and G Suite is more than a name change. After ten months of acquisitions and partnerships, Google has heavily invested in product updates and infrastructure, and that’s how we can make digital transformation a reality for our customers.”

Google Cloud is the enterprise-focused division that offers the public cloud infrastructure—Google Cloud Platform—as well as G Suite, enterprise versions of Android and Chrome OS, and application programming interfaces (APIs) for machine learning and enterprise mapping services.

G Suite encompasses the ecosystem of apps Google has built and continues to improve upon, as well as the deeper integration with machine learning and artificial intelligence, which leads to improved work efficiencies.

Team Drive shifts the focus from individual users to teams, streamlining productivity facilitating continuity of progress for projects even as roles change. Agosto has been previewing Team Drives with a small set of customers, and will begin to extend this capability to more customers through an Early Adopter Program.

Agosto compiled a comprehensive list of Google’s new brands to explain what has changed and what will stay the same, which can be seen here.

State of Wyoming Joins Forces with Agosto to Advance 11K Users to Google Apps Unlimited

Unlimited storage, virtual collaboration, and a single Google SKU are key factors contributing to cost savings and employee agility across the entirety of state’s executive branch agencies.

MINNEAPOLIS—September 14, 2016—Agosto Inc., a tier 1 premier Google for Work partner, announced they have partnered with the State of Wyoming to advance the agency’s 11,000 users to Google Apps Unlimited. In addition, Agosto will provide ongoing support to manage the seats, providing a first line of technical assistance when needed. Upgrading to Google Apps Unlimited gives the State of Wyoming unlimited drive storage, additional administrative features, and advanced auditing and reporting capabilities. Agosto has already helped the state experience faster turnaround times by working with Google on their behalf.

Flint Waters, State Chief Information Officer, Wyoming Department of Enterprise Technology Services, said “Agosto has already helped us reap significant benefits by seamlessly migrating from Google Apps for Government to Google Apps Unlimited. Under their strategic direction we’re spending less and accomplishing more. In addition, they are Google gurus whose expertise benefits our entire IT team.”

Agosto is taking Wyoming to a new level of productivity and cost savings by streamlining all departmental agencies to a single, Fedramp certified SKU which offers unlimited data storage. The ability to collaborate in real time with peers at other agencies and locations has enabled Wyoming to reduce travel times and expenses. For example, Google hangouts allows IT field technicians to troubleshoot with their customers remotely, eliminating the need to travel in many instances.

Wyoming was an early adopter of Google Apps for Government in 2011, and the first state in the nation to adopt cloud-based products. With Waters as State CIO, Wyoming has evolved from departmentally configured entities to a more integrated enterprise model. Using Google Apps for Government, Wyoming had multiple SKUs to manage, burdening the IT department with tracking of numerous random renewal dates. Google Apps Unlimited has only one SKU, eliminating this administratively taxing process.

“Agosto has deep ties with Google and significant experience working with government entities,” said Agosto President Aric Bandy. “Our government clients are finding that their IT teams receive fewer email support calls, freeing them up to focus on more strategic initiatives. This is especially vital in the public sector.” Government agencies without dedicated IT departments also benefit from the administration simplicity of Google Apps. Agosto provides change management and training professionals to help entire agencies or diversified departments “go Google”, migrating data from legacy systems and helping new users get started.

Google Apps Unlimited is the premium business version of Google Apps. In addition to everything available in Google Apps for Work, it provides unlimited storage and Google Vault for all users, as well as additional Drive administration, auditing, and reporting features.

Wyoming is in the initial stages of implementing Skykit, Agosto’s born-in-the-cloud digital signage content management system (CMS). Skykit is the first and only end-to-end Google-based digital signage solution. It easily distributes content to any screen, anywhere in the world. Skykit allows almost any type of organization to easily scale communications to their constituents. Other early adopters of Skykit include companies in the food service, retail, education and ad networks industries.

Agosto Leverages MQTT to Create High Performance, Open Source Message Broker for IoT

Open Source architecture designed for Google Cloud Platform lets developers build simple yet robust IoT features.

MINNEAPOLIS—May 18, 2016—Agosto Inc., a Google Tier 1 Premier Partner and cloud product development firm, has created an open source IoT message broker that enables businesses to implement rapid development of IoT applications using the widely-accepted MQTT protocol. MQTT further validated its de-facto status earlier this year when it received ISO standard certification.

Agosto’s IoT connection broker is a component of and gateway into Googles Pub/Sub service, as well as the company’s IoT (M2M) Accelerator, and can support any "Back-End" service that an enterprise wants to run on Google Cloud Platform (GCP). Agosto developed an early proof of this message broker for GCP. The company invested significantly to analyze options, build out an architecture, define message adaptation, and explore the feasibility of integrating with Google Cloud Pub/Sub. The project was informally announced by Preston Holmes at the recent Google NEXT Conference. Holmes is head of IoT solutions for GCP.

“Our goal was to develop a high-performance IoT Message Broker for Google Cloud Platform with a first adaptor for the Google Cloud Pub/Sub service that is simple to configure and deploy,” said Paul Lundberg, Agosto CTO. “We kept a sharp focus on security, scalability and performance in order to meet the enterprise-grade requirements of our customers.”

Forbes reports that Enterprise IoT spending is exceeding consumer spending in the near-term. Agosto has seen this trend in many markets, such as Industrial Internet, Drones, Infrastructure Controls and Telematics/Connected Vehicles.

“It’s challenging for companies to integrate the new business models that are part of an IoT transformation,” said Rick Erickson, Co-Founder and SVP of Business Development at Agosto. “We help enterprises navigate risk through a standardized process, by incubating each stage of the transformation.”

Agosto works with Fortune 100 companies to build market-changing IoT applications in the retail, manufacturing, and transportation verticals. One of only five Google for Work Premier Partners in North America, the company was named Google Enterprise Global Partner of the Year for Cloud Platform in 2014, and is currently the second largest Google Cloud Platform reseller in the world.
